Finally settling in

To anyone that cares--which on a blog means very few,
A lot has changed in the time since I last posted. Two months ago, my wife and I moved from Evanston, IL to Hyattsville, MD (suburbs bordering Chicago and Washington, D.C. respectively). Sensing that keeping anyone whom might be interested in my work would be helpful, I'm making my first effort to record what's happening.  If I follow through and post here more often (as compared to the book of faces where it is only slightly more often), I might give an some account of what has happened since 2013.

Next time--tomorrow, next week, next year--I'll do my best to be more brief. I can't be bothered to edit as the state of Maryland wants the car inspected before allowing us to register the car.

What does this have to do with the artwork? I don't think it relates at all except that it prevents me from finishing this painting.

Finally settling in

Heat, the end of the summer semester, and full-time painting.

I had not realized how lax my habit of posting to this blog was. In any case I welcome the end of the past few "warm" days as they have allowed me to paint without my palette drying out prematurely. And with the end of the semester on Wednesday I will be able to concentrate on my work more, but I will also be scraping by with little income until fall classes begin.
Well, at least this painting is coming along nicely. I don't have my camera anywhere close by, so I'll have to upload a picture later. Still, times are good.

Getting back to work

Ok, I am going to get started really getting back to work. I've been a bit distracted by stupid things and consequently have not been more diligent about painting. In other words, I will paint!

Back to work.

I'm finally getting back into the swing of things. I'm going to restart a painting that I haven't touched since December 4th of last year. That's shameful, but at least I am doing something about it now. I'll post pics as the changes come along.

No work

It's been over a month since we moved and I still haven't touched my work. This is not a good sign. I need to get back into the thick of it or else I'll forever be looking in from the outside

Have to move

As much as working in a bedroom was challenging, it was at least a kind of "studio." My wife and I are now moving to an apartment in which I will have to commandeer a working space in the dining room. I did this before in our previous apartment and had trouble working since the cats were always there to bother me. Oh well. The apartment itself is beautiful and near the lake. And anyway, I might be able to get a separate studio in the next couple of months if I save my money. But maybe it will all work out working cheaply in the dining room. The downside, nonetheless, is that my wife would never be able to have dinner parties. (sigh)
